Obituary of Gordon Willard Sparks
It is with heavy hearts the family of Gordon Willard Sparks announce his passing on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on January 11, 1934 in Ripples, NB, he was a son of the late Alexander "Sandy" Sparks and Violet (MacLean).
Gordon was a qualified electrician by trade and worked at the Dry Dock for 23 years prior to retirement. He was a member of the Lions Club for many years. He was an avid Bingo player, and loved hunting and fishing.
Gordon is survived by his loving companion of 53 years Elva Saunders; his son Roy; and Elva's children: Mary, Paul, Stanley and Ann Saunders; siblings: Ilene O'Hara, Royden Sparks, and Maxine Bell; many grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by Elva's children: Marilyn, Gladys and Tommy; sisters, Lily Marshall and her husband Lloyd, and Dorothy Grey and her husband Bill; brother Hugh Sparks; brother-in-laws, Tom O'Hara and Earl Bell; and sister-in-law Yvonne Sparks.
Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) with visitation on Tuesday, May 14,2019 from 2:00 - 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held from Kennebecasis Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, May 15 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Ripples, NB at a later date. Donations made in memory of Gordon may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lung Association of NB or a charity of the donor's choice.
