Obituary of Cecile Jean Hopper

 

It is with great sadness, the family of Cecile Jean Hopper announces she peacefully passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021, at  the Dr. V.A. Snow Centre in Hampton NB.

 

Born in Dalhousie on June 21, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Luc and Elizabeth (Godin) Robichaud.

 

Family was important to Cecile; babysitting at one time or another, all her nieces and nephews. Always available to help when someone from the family got sick, traveling anywhere in NB and staying for as long as needed.

 

Cecile worked at Clifford’s Pharmacy in Dalhousie as a cosmetic specialist. Husbands would ask her for advice on gift ideas for special occasions. She also worked doing make up for the Chaleur Echoes before their shows.

She loved winter camping and loved to ski Alpine and cross-country. She was the representative for Bonney Bell Products, who sponsored the cross-country ski races in Charlo, NB, as Miss Bonney Bell, and took part in cross-country Marathons herself.  During the summer she would enjoy camping and fishing when she wasn’t working in the garden with her flowers. When the weather was bad, she would spend time doing needle point, cross stitch and word puzzles. Cecile was a great Rock and Roll dancer and loved to compete on the dance floor. Cecile was an avid bowler and competitive throughout the province.

 

Survived by her loving husband Arnold R. Hopper of Hampton, with 40 years of love and memories. One stepdaughter Lorie Susan Hopper (Dan) Kelly. Her favorite boy Matthew A. Throop (Cheryl), who she started babysitting when he was 2 months old. Her sister Emilie (Paul) and brothers; Omer (Alexina), Gerard (Corinne) and Jean Guy, all from Charlo, NB, sisters;  Marie Jeanne (Domitien) of Grande-Digue, NB, Laurette (Denis) and Aline (Renato) and Anne Marie (Denis) all from Montreal/Ottawa area.

 

Besides her parents, Cecile is predeceased by her sisters; Annette (Bill), Yvonne, and Marina (Gilles).

 

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). Cremation took place at Brenan's Crematorium, Saint John, NB. A private graveside service will be held for Cecile at the cemetery in the Parish of St. Francis Xavier, in Charlo, NB, on August 14, 2021, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Dr. V.A. Snow Centre, Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
