Obituary of Katherine Bastarache

It is with heartfelt sorrow, the passing of Katherine Bastarache occurred on Friday, November 26, 2021 at Shannex, Embassy Hall.

 

Born in Saint John on August 28, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Levi and Mildred (Pike) Kelley. Katherine taught kindergarten in the Quispamsis area. She also spent time working at Quispamsis United Church, Quispamsis Elementary, Lakefield Elementary, the Quispamsis Co-Op, Treasured Possessions and City Laundry. Katherine enjoyed ceramics, bowling, cake decorating, Quispamsis Field Days, Quispamsis Figure Skating and she was a member of the Sea Belles.

 

Katherine is survived by her sons: Ronald (Kyla Lee Bailey) of Calgary, AB, Peter (Tanya Underhill) of Calgary, AB, daughter Kelley Shrubsole of Carleton Place, ON and their father Hartley Bastarache; sisters: Susan Kelley, Rosalyn Hewitson (Allan), and Christina Darah (Michael); grandchildren: Jessica, Jake, Spencer, Morgan, Joe, Lisa, Cole, Jackie, Kristin and Cody, and 5 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew her.

 

Besides parents, Katherine is predeceased by her brothers Wesley, Peter and Colin.

 

Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Rd. Quispamsis, (506-849-2119) with visiting on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home Chapel at 2 PM. Interment will take place privately by invitation. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed and can be viewed by visiting Katherine’s obituary at www.kennebecasisfh.com

 

 

Due to Covid-19 health measures placed on indoor gatherings by the Government of New Brunswick, all those 12 and older attending the service will be required to show proof of vaccination and a piece of a government-issued ID or proof of medical exemption.

 

 

For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the St. Joseph’s Hospital GEM unit or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
