Obituary of Warrant Officer Wayne A. Burdon

Warrant Officer Wayne Allen Burdon (Retired), husband of Brenda (Slaunwhite), sadly passed away on October 14, 2018 at the age of 71 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Wayne was born in Saint John, he was a son of the late Fred and Joan (Stanley) Burdon. Wayne joined the Navy in 1964 and retired from the C.A.F. in 1991. He spent six years in Baden, Germany from 1975-1981 and four years in Geilenkirchen, Germany from 1985-1989 with the Military, then another six years in Geilenkirchen from 1991-1997 as a Civilian Contractor. He joined the Navy to see the world, and that he Did! Wayne was a great asset in his military career. During his service he was a great Master of Ceremonies at many functions, such as Mess Dinners. Wayne was the founder of the Kids Disco in Baden from 1978-1980, which was held every Sunday afternoon, in the Ambassador Lounge, the kids loved Wayne. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Germany, where he served as President, Past President, Membership Chairman. Wayne is survived by his wife Brenda (Slaunwhite), son Paul of Ontario, daughter Lisa (Brent Morris) of Lethbridge, AB, granddaughter Nicole of Ontario, brothers; Don (Pat), Ian (Lois), Jon (Heather), sisters; Pam Nyers (Jim), and Shani (Anthony O'Leary), brother in law Bill Simons, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his brother Van. At Wayne's request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119).
