Obituary of Elaine Hannan-Bacon

Elaine Hannan-Bacon (nee Gillis) of Quispamsis, wife of the late Emerson Hannan and the late Everett Bacon, passed away on June 1, 2013, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Tower Hill, March 28, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Marietta (Cunningham) Gillis. Elaine had her teaching certificate and taught school in Pomeroy Ridge. She later spent many years as a hostess and waitress in the hospitality industry, also working in the Charlotte County Hospital. Elaine was a long time member and Secretary of the Saint John Chapter #14 of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the KV Seniors, as well as Saint David's United Church. She enjoyed travelling; visiting Alaska, Europe, Florida, Maine and New Hampshire. She is survived by her sons Melvin Hannan (Beatrice), David Hannan (Susan), and John Hannan (Linda); granddaughter Susan Leigh Hannan (Colin Mercer); sisters, Jean Jarvis, Olive Berriault, Vera Gillis (Nadine Cooper), and Grace Marlein (Louis) and brothers Joseph (Meriam), Melvin (Ann), Phillip (Eileen), and Alan (Bev). Elaine was pre-deceased by her sister, Charlotte Cote and her brother, Ivan Gillis. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119), with visiting on Wednesday, June 5th, 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Funeral Service will be held at Saint David's United Church, 7 Gondola Point Road, Thursday, June 6th, at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in the Scotch Ridge United Church Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Alzheimer's Society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
