Obituary of Harold Benjamine MacAulay

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Harold at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on June 5th, 2013 after a courageous six year battle with cancer. Born in North Sydney, NS on November 9th, 1960, he was the son of Edith (Robinson) and the late Harold MacAulay. Harold is survived by his wife Marie of 15 years and daughter Mariève; his mother Edith; four sisters Wendy (Mike Murphy), Patricia (Paul Francis), Jennifer (Dave Deveau), and Ann (Jermaine Mombourquette); many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Harold, and his uncle Ben Robinson. Harold graduated from Mount Saint Vincent University with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Dietetics and pursued a Masters degree in Anthropology at Université Laval. He lived in New Brunswick for 19 years and worked as a Registered Dietitian in different hospitals. Harold is remembered for his great sense of humour even when he was seriously ill and his passion for traveling, reading and writing. As Harold wanted to leave a legacy to his beloved daughter Mariève before he died, he wrote a children's book dedicated to her entitled “The Adventures of the Yappy Gang.” Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB (849-2119) with visiting on Friday, June 7th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 8th at 11 am from St. Peter’s Church, 50 Clarendon St., Saint John. Interment will take place in Quebec at a later date. For those wishing, remembrances may be made to Palliative Care, Child Life, SPCA, Divine Mercy Catholic School or donor’s choice. Online condolences and remembrances may be made at: www.kennebecasisfh.com. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Oncology and Palliative Care staff for the care and comfort that they provided to Harold during his illness, to Child Life staff for preparing Mariève to the eventual death of her father, to La Garderie Samuel-de-Champlain staff for their kindness and generosity and to the many family members and friends who have extended a helping hand and provided support in those difficult times.
