Obituary of Fred Eldon Pleadwell

The death of Fred Eldon Pleadwell, of Rothesay, NB, husband of Florence (Steeves) Pleadwell, occurred on Monday, November 18, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Quarryville, NB on November 7, 1922, he was a son of the late Thomas and Mildred (Astle) Pleadwell. After being discharged from the Army, Fred drove city buses in Saint John and operated one of the last Street Cars. In 1951, he moved to Rothesay and started his own lumbering and saw mill business, and later excavating construction. He was forced to retire in 1989, due to his eyesight. Fred was an active member of St. David's United Church. In his retirement, Fred took a great interest in bowling, where he made many friends and many fond memories, he continued to bowl until he was 89 years old. Besides his loving wife of 65 years, Florence, he is survived by his children, John Pleadwell (Deborah) of Rothesay, and Bonita Dionne (Brian) of Rothesay, special niece, Treva Stewart (Marcel) and their children, Carla (Ron), and their child, Christa, and Angela (Franco) and their child, Kathleen, sisters; Reta Saunders of Riverview, NB, and Zella Northorp of Scotch Lake, NB, grandchildren; Scott Dionne (Sue), and Megan Tibbits, great grandchildren; Tristyn, and Danielle, extended family; Shirley Rolfe (the late Bill Rolfe) and their daughters; Sharon, Brenda, Sheila, and Wanda, Donna Stewart (Vernon) and their family, Robert, Kim, and Jill, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Fred was predeceased by his sister, Eileen Mountain and her husband Willis, and brothers in laws Norman Steeves, and William Saunders. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 2:00 PM from St. David's United Church, 7 Gondola Point Road, Rothesay. Interment to take place at St. Andrew's United Kirk Cemetery, Hammond River. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
