Obituary of Robert Bernard Martell

It is with profound sadness and a “hurting heart” that I have had to say good bye to the love of my life, my best friend and life partner. My husband Robert Bernard Martell, born December 12 1955 was taken suddenly on March 20th, 2014. Rob was born and raised in Montreal, and because of the unfortunate passing of his father and mother when he was just a little boy, his Uncle Eddie and Aunt Yolande welcomed him into their home, bestowing great love. Rob was the sunshine in his families’ day, the air under our wings when things became difficult. He lived his life never looking back, always in the moment. He was a wonderful husband to me. We were married 35 wonderful loving happy years. Rob’s legacy will be his children, Derek (wife Melanie) and his special girl Jennifer. Rob will also be able to say he will be grandfather to our little baby Martell expected August 30th, 2014. He will be remembered always by his brother Jerry Martell (wife Kathy), beautiful nephews Stephen and Michael. His dearest sister Linda, his most cherished niece Melissa (husband Ben). His first love has always been football, coaching for over 20 years young men to become better on and off the field. He coached at Kennebecasis Highschool for over 10 years, leading the team to over three championships. He will be remembered by his closest cousins Sylvie, Celine and Phillippe who he held a special place in his heart. He leaves behind the dearest of friends, Ted and Allison, Louise and Ernie, Nancy and Big Pete, and Joe and Linda. His Liar Club buddies and photography friends across Canada. Rob lit up the room with his jokes and laughter, God has called him home to light up heaven and join his Mom & Dad, Uncle Eddie and his never forgotten nephew Jeremy. I will wait patiently to join you my love, your forever always Mary. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119), with visiting on Monday from 5-8p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mark's Church on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. For those who wish, remembrances to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation - Stem Cell Research would be appreciated by the family.
