Obituary of Andrew W. Dollar

We, the family of Andrew "Andy" W. Dollar sadly announce his passing, in his 95th year, on July 10, 2014, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He has passed to be with his precious Ruthie. Born in Scotland on August 7, 1918, he was a son of the late William and Margaret (Murdock) (Dick) Dollar. He is survived by his two sons Wayne Dollar (Paula) of Hampton and Charles Dollar (Pat) of Quispamsis, sister Jean Yeo, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as extended grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Andy was pre-deceased by his wife Ruth (Yeo) Dollar in 2009, as well as his sister Margaret Dunn of Fredericton. He retired from Irving Pulp and Paper, was an avid bowler, enjoyed hunting, fishing, fly tying, and playing Auction 45's. Andy was a life member of the Hammond River Angling Association, member of the Atlantic Salmon Federation, life member of the Saint Andrew's Society, a past member of the Balls Lake Fishing Club, and was a master fly-tier and instructor. Andy also visited KV High School and Loch Lomond Elementary School, where he was known as honorary grandfather, and spoke to the students about his experiences in World War II. He was also a past-president of the KV Senior's Association. The family wishes to extend thanks to Frank Britten and Gil Kenny for making the Poppy Campaign enjoyable for 20 years at Sobeys- Rothesay, as well as Don Gass, Sobeys Manager, for the Veteran's Dinners that he put on over the years. Special thanks also go to Norman Gaillard for ensuring Andy's needs as a veteran were always taken care of, and to Wendy Williams for her companionship. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119), with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a "Tribute to a Veteran" service on Wednesday at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be held from the Kennebecasis Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
