Obituary of Thomas David Millar

The family of Thomas David Millar of Quispamsis, is deeply saddened to announce his passing on November 22, 2014. His beloved wife Anne was at his side at Saint John Regional Hospital, where he had been admitted following a sudden illness. In addition to Anne, his wife of 40 years, he is survived by his daughters Kate Millar, currently living in Vietnam, and Diana Dawes of Saint John; his son-in-law Michael Dawes; his sister and brother-in-law Joan and Robert Hathaway of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; his sister Sandra Millar of Mississauga, Ontario, as well as two nieces and two nephews. The family is so grateful that this past summer family and friends gathered in Rothesay to celebrate the wedding of Diana and Mike. Tom had the great joy of walking his daughter down the aisle. Prior to his retirement, Tom worked for many years as President of PCL & Eastern Packaging, based in Saint John, and was founder of DAK Manufacturing, manufacturer of Reddi Rink, distributed throughout Canada and regionally in the United States. He was an avid golf, baseball, and basketball fan and especially enjoyed playing golf. He was born in Toronto, Ontario, the only son of the late Kathleen and Thomas Millar and attended Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his wicked sense of humour, his love of animals, his enterprising spirit, and his unconditional support of his children. He not only provided for his family materially, but always strove to expose his daughters to travel, adventure, and new experiences. Visitation will be at Kennebecasis Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis on Thursday, November 27, 2014 from 5 pm to 8 pm. Services will be held Friday, November 28 at 2 pm at Saint David’s Church, 7 Gondola Point Road, Rothesay, NB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saint John SPCA or a charity of the donor’s choice.
