Obituary of Carrie Almeda Darrah

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carrie Almeda Darrah of Quispamsis, NB, on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, peacefully at her home. Born in Chipman, NB, on August 20, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Almond “Allie” and Marie (Bishop) Darrah.

 

Carrie was an avid reader and loved her weekly walks to the library. A woman of faith, she loved volunteering in the church. She loved to cook and it showed by her huge collection of cookbooks. The teapot was always on and the door was always open for company. She was a beautiful lady and a great listener. Most of all she loved to spend time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

 

 

She will be lovingly remembered by her spouse of 38 years, Ray. Her children; Terry Ells (Doug), Peter Gunn, (Sarah), Penny Gunn, Raymond Gunn (Leigh Ann), Tommy Gunn (Cindy), Crissy Mullin (Stephen), brothers; Archie (Rita), Bob (Sharon), and Johnny, sisters; Vera Protz, Mary Lou Dickinson (Randy); sister-in-law, Barb; as well as 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

In addition to her parents, Carrie was predeceased by her daughter Cindy Darrah, brothers; Hazen (Mary), Alex and Basil, sisters; Lorna Hopkins (Hugh), Hazel Randles (Bill), and brother in law Gordon Protz.

 

In keeping with Carrie’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment to take place in Chipman, NB at a later date when family and friends can gather. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
