Obituary of Robert Hazen Costello

The death of Bob Costello of Quispamsis, husband of Eloise (Allen) Costello, occurred on February 1, 2012 at the Turnbull Nursing Home after a period of failing illness. Born in Saint John, NB, June 28, 1931, he was the son of the late Peter and Mary (McKay) Costello. Bob started selling newspapers at a young age. He moved on to being an electrician, working for Kennedy Electrical, and then starting his own electrical business in 1960 retiring in 1990. Bob enjoyed gardening, was an avid golfer, winning several trophies and he was on Jack’s Atlantic basketball team. He also was a skilled wine maker which was enjoyed by many. Bob and his wife of 59 years, raised five children and would pack them up in the station wagon and take them on many family vacations like camping in Fundy National Park and yearly trips to Florida. Bob was a faithful servant of Jehovah God for 56 years and spent many years volunteering his time in the ministry sharing his hope for the future which he loved. He volunteered his time travelling to different locations in the Maritimes working on the building of Kingdom Halls. He was well known for playing pranks and then just grinning at you with a twinkle in his eye. He is survived by his wife, Eloise; four daughters, Diane (Ted) Condon of Hampton, Lynn (Dean) Coates of Saint John, Patsy Johnston of Quispamsis, Mary (John) Walker of Rothesay; one son, Norman (Julie) Costello of Grand Bay-Westfield; one sister, Dolores (James) Murray of Rothesay; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Joan (Robert) Murphy and Ruth Costello; two brothers, Ralph F. (Frances) Costello, Douglas W. (Pinky) Costello; one grandson, Benjamin Costello; one great granddaughter, Carly Taylor; and son-in-law, Joel Johnston. There will be no visitation by request. Please join us for a Memorial Service on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 2:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 14 Elliott Road, Quispamsis. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob can be made to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Canada, PO Box 4100, Georgetown, ON L7G4Y4 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
