Obituary of Gladys May Brand

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Gladys May (O’Donoghue) Brand, age 95, at the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre, Hampton on Wednesday, April 4, 2012. Born is Saint John on February 21, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Blanche (Dickens) O’Donoghue. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years Glendon “Bert” Brand, the love of her life. Gladys is survived by her son William Brand of Quispamsis; her daughter Gail Ellis (Tim) of Rothesay; grandchildren Natalie Russell (Dave), Mark Crowther and Tyler Ellis; as well as great-grandchildren Anneke and Alexandra Russell. Predeceased by brothers Thomas and Kenneth and sisters Thora Trebble and Jean O’Donoghue. Gladys was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Quispamsis. Her life revolved around her home, husband, children and grandchildren. Gladys’ family is especially grateful to the management and staff of the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre for the exceptional care provided to our mother since 2006. At the family’s request, no visitation will be held. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 171 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, on Monday, April 9, 2012, at 10:00 AM. A reception will be held in the church hall immediately following the Mass. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Saint John.
