Obituary of Robert Charles Ferguson

The death of Bob Ferguson of Quispamsis, husband of Erma (MacDonald) Ferguson, occurred Wednesday, June 13th, 2012, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Charlestown, Massachusetts on January, 7th, 1929, he was the son of the late Clarence and Hilda (Merry) Ferguson. Prior to his retirement, Bob was employed in sales at Barbour Foods, Sussex. He also enjoyed his years as a school bus driver. Bob was an extremely active person who loved life. In his younger years, he was a competitive figure skater and marksman. Bob enjoyed volunteering and was a volunteer fireman with the Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department. The department recently honoured him for his thirty years of loyal service. Bob took pride in his participation with the fire department’s Christmas baskets. He also loved camping and had many fond memories doing so with his dear family and friends. Bob was an avid sportsman who especially enjoyed racing. Together with Erma, he was a faithful member of Kings Way Assembly. He will be sadly missed. Besides his loving wife, Erma, Bob is also survived by his children, Judy Williams (Glynn) of Quispamsis, Wilson (Lorraine) of Vancouver, Bobby (Cathy) of Calgary and Herbie (Tina Rossi) of Halifax; sisters, Freda Murphy (Arnold), Hilda Richardson (Weldon), Corey Richardson, all of Sussex and Laura Murphy (George) of British Columbia; brothers, Clarence (Betty) of Quispamsis, Frank of Sussex, Jimmy (Mara) of Woodstock, Johnny of British Columbia and Walter of Sussex; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his daughter, Dianne Phillips; sister, Jenny Ferguson and brothers, Jim, Fred and Don. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, (506) 849-2119, with visitation on Friday, June 15th, 2012 from 7-9 PM and the following day, Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held at Kings Way Assembly, 7 Kingsway Drive, Quispamsis, on Sunday, June 17th, 2012, at 3:00 PM. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at the church.
