Obituary of James Arthur Pollock

Surrounded by his loving family, the unexpected death of Art Pollock of Quispamsis, husband of the late Willa Jean (Chamberlain) Pollock, occurred Sunday, June 17th, 2012, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, after a brief illness. Born in Saint John on July 4th, 1925, he was the son of the late James C. and Mary (Scott) Pollock. Art served in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII. He was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #58, where in his younger years he dabbled in bartending. As a young man, Art worked at Winter Port and at the time of his retirement, he was employed as a carpenter. Art was always up for a good game of crib, darts and cards. He enjoyed bowling and playing shuffleboard. Art is survived by his seven children, Gary (Mary) and Brenda Roberts (Dave) both of Kingston, Art (Annette) of Shannon, Peter (Carla) and Roger (Tammy) both of Quispamsis, Wendy Boyle (Warren) of Wells and Brian (Myrtle) of Quispamsis; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Kay Herrington; one brother, John and grandson, Matthew Pollock. As per Art’s request, no visitation or funeral service will be held. Family and friends are invited to a reception which will be held at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, (506) 849-2119, on Thursday, June 21st, 2012, at 12:00 Noon. A private interment will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Quispamsis. For those who wish, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
