Donald Stewart

Obituary of Donald Claude Stewart

It is with heartfelt sadness the family announces the passing of Donald Stewart, 82, of the Kingston Peninsula on August 28, 2012. Beloved husband and best friend of Barbara (McLaughlin) Stewart. He passed peacefully surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for and loved. Donald worked for 30 years at various meat packing plants prior to his retirement in 1987, when he was then able to dedicate more time to his love of the outdoors, which was evident with his passion for hunting, fishing and gardening. Don could not wait to get that next deer in the freezer. Donald’s love and dedication for his family was unprecedented. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara and his beloved three girls, Beth Fullerton (Kevin) and Mary McFarlane (Larry) both of Kingston and Lisa Lee (Ken) of Banff, Alberta. The pride and joy of his life were his grandchildren, Tony, Jeff, Jill Fullerton and Ryan Lee. He will also be missed by his sisters, Mary Titus (Russell) and Marguerite McColgan of Kingston; aunt, Helen Graham; several nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by his parents, Claude and Agnes (Gilliland) Stewart; his sister, Betty Ganong and brother-in-law, David McColgan. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Bill Koval of Extra-Mural for his dedication and effort in providing quality care over the past 12 years. This was a blessing to our entire family and we thank God for the gift of his life and the time we got to spend with him at home. Arrangements are entrusted to Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, (506) 849-2119, with visitation on Thursday, August 30, 2012, from 2:00 - 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, Chapel Grove, on Friday, August 31, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the NB Lung Association, Parkinson Society, St. Bridget’s Building Fund or a charity of donor’s choice.
