Obituary of Mary Madeleine Soper

Soper, Mary Madeleine (nee Lowham)

 

Peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 91. Mary was born on December 25, 1929 in Ottawa, Ontario. Daughter of the late Herbert T. Lowham and Jane Anne (nee Lackey) of Ottawa, Ontario and beloved wife of the late George L. Soper.

 

Mary is survived by her son David (Janet Murdoch). Predeceased by her son Douglas Wayne in 2007 and by sisters Gwynneth Spano, Phyllis Dunn and brother Herbert. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Mary attended school in Ottawa and was later employed in the Federal Government. After her marriage to George who was a member of the RCMP, they were transferred to a number of cities in Ontario. They moved to Rothesay, NB in 1969. Mary was a regular attendant at St. Paul’s Anglican Church and a member of the ACW.  Her hobbies included glass mosaic, ceramics, knitting, sewing, bowling and camping. Mary had many friends and always wore a friendly smile. Mary’s family is very grateful for the wonderful care given to her in palliative care at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

 

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Rd, Quispamsis (849-2119) with visiting on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church (4 Church Ave, Rothesay) on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Fernhill Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed and may be viewed by going to Mary’s memorial page.
