He passed peacefully surrounded by his family at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on January 30, 1944 in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late George and Jean (Turnbull) Tissington. Bernie was the General Manager for Bercon Atlantic for many years. He was a long time member of Rothesay Baptist Church (True Life Church), where he served the Lord and served on the board of the Community Chaplain Service Canada Inc. Bernie enjoyed camping, four wheeling, woodworking, and motor biking. But most of all he loved his family especially his grandchildren who brought him great joy. Bernie is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy, his children; Nancy Tissington of Saint John and Darren Tissington (Dawn Maillet) of Quispamsis, sisters; Kathryn Chapman and Roberta "Bunny" Armstrong, grandchildren; Kathryn Spears (Joshua), Chad, Ryan, Breanne, and Chanelle Tissington, great-grandchildren; Olivia Spears, William Spears and Tony Lordon, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the SICU and Dr. Zubair Luqman at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) with visiting on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at True Life Church (formerly Rothesay Baptist Church), 30 Vincent Road, Quispamsis.
