Obituary of Nancy Kirkpatrick

Peacefully, at Kings Way Care Centre, Quispamsis, our mother passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017. Mom was born in Craigenputtock, Scotland on July 24, 1921. She, along with her parents, Robert and Christina (McWilliam) Murdie and brother Jim, immigrated to Canada in May, 1928. Mom loved to knit; everyone in the community and family, has mittens, hats, socks, and sweaters that she made. She also made many, many baby outfits. Mom also loved to travel to Scotland at least a dozen times, Hawaii, Bermuda, Florida, and every autumn, until she was 89, to Penticton, BC, to stay with her dear friend Carol. She also loved to play cards and bingo! She was predeceased by her parents, husband Ensley (1977), daughter Shirley Whittaker (2015) (late Bob in 1999), son David (2001), and brother Jim. Mom is also the last of the "old" girls. She is survived by her son Stanley (Gladys) of Saint John, NB; daughters Nancy Iannizzi (Bob) of St. Catharines, ON; Barbara Meade (Tom) of Long Reach, NB, Lois Saunders (John) of Rothesay, NB. She is also survived by her only sister-in-law, Beryl (late Robert) Kirkpatrick of Rothesay, as well as 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mom was a former member of RCL #58 Ladies Auxiliary, Quispamsis Seniors Club, and St. David's United Church. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road (849-2119) with visiting on Monday from 6- 9 PM. Funeral Service will be held at Kennebecasis Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 11AM with visiting one hour prior to the funeral service. Private family interment to take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Kings Way Care Centre Foundation or to the KV Meals on Wheels.
