Obituary of M. Jane White

It is with broken hearts that the family of Jane White, wife of the late Bud White, of Long Reach, announces her passing which occurred on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a short illness. Jane was born on August 2, 1942, in Saint John, and was the daughter of the late Jack and Dorothy (Slocum) Withers.

Jane will be remembered as someone who had many talents. She was an avid crafter and over the years she tried her hand at everything from jewelry making to stained glass to felted purses. She had an interest in photography which she developed while taking a course with Freeman Patterson. Jane could see beauty in something as simple as a dew covered spiderweb, or a close shot of glass bottles. Jane also had a love of all kinds of music from modern to classical and was a gifted pianist.

In her working years, Jane worked as an X-Ray Technician, first at the Saint John General, then at the Regional Hospital. She also helped run “White’s Country Store” with her beloved husband, Bud; and was a proud member of Beta Sigma Phi

Jane was an intelligent woman who never shied away from sharing world events with her kids and teaching them about the world, even taking the kids out of school one day to watch a rocket launch. Jane enjoyed deep conversations and always stood up for anyone who needed it. She loved adventure and her family remembers trips in their travel trailer with a special trip to Florida, where Jane and Bud took them out of school for five weeks. Jane and Bud loved to dance together, and her family finds comfort knowing they’re now reunited on the dance floor. When you see something beautiful or hear a piece of piano music, please think about, and remember Jane.

Jane is survived by her son, Darren (Chris) White; daughter, Tiffany White; grandchildren Benjamin and Jack; brother, Paul (Roberta) Withers; sisters-in-law: Susie Gagnon, Patti Withers & Joan (Aubrey) Leblanc; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Bud White; brothers, Larry and Tim Withers; infant sister, Jessie Withers; and her mum and dad.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Griffin and her team for the support and friendship shown to Jane throughout the years.

Arrangements are under the care of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Rd. Quispamsis (506-849-2119).
