Obituary of Valerie Joyce Curwin

It is with great sadness, the family of Valerie "Val", wife of the late David Curwin, announce her unexpected passing, which occurred on June 30, 2017, at her residence. Valerie was born at the Saint John General Hospital on December 3, 1951, but spent her whole life in the Kennebecasis Valley. She was the daughter of the late Vincent E. and Doris L (Carpenter) Kennie. Valerie is survived by her daughters; Tara (Philip), Angela and grandson Nicholas and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Val was a free spirit who loved life and everyone around her. She could make a bad day great again just with her smile. She instantly knew when people were in need, even if they didn’t. Val knew the right things to say and do to make you feel happy about life again and forget your troubles.. Her home was always open to anyone at any time and you never left her house hungry. Val met her soulmate Dave at a high school dance and instantly feel in love with a Saint John boy who hitchhiked every day to Rothesay to see her. They lived an amazing, adventurous, fun filled life and both of them loved their community and their little home on the Old Hampton Road with its light up doorbell... Val was a long-time member of the Canadian Hemophilia Society of New Brunswick. Holding various positions over the years and she was also a big friend to Lois! She held various jobs over her life time from waitressing as a teen at the Irving in Rothesay to her favorite job for many years as a yogurt rep for Peninsula Farms. She retired from Wyndham Worldwide Dec 2016 after being there for 17 years. Arrangements are under the care of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home where visitation will be held Tuesday, July 11 and Wednesday, July 12 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A celebration of Valerie’s life will also be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11 am. Remembrances in Valerie's memory, may be made to Canadian Hemophilia Society of NB.
