Obituary of Melville Mansfield Mercier

It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of our dear husband, supportive father, loving grandfather and loyal friend. Mel Mercier passed away on Saturday, July 15th 2017 at the Moncton City Hospital with family by his side. He was born November 13th, 1943 in Campbellton, NB, and raised his family in Rothesay NB. Mel is the son of the late James and Georgina (Teed) Mercier of Campbellton NB. He is predeceased by his brothers Don (Theresa) and Bob (Mireille) Mercier. Mel is survived by his loving wife Joan of 50 years, eldest brother Bill (Marquita), 3 children, Steven (Nadia), Michael, Marlaine (Geoff), 5 grandchildren Olivia, Hannah, Luke, Claire and Drew and by several nieces and nephews. Mel (Gunk) will be remembered and never forgotten for his immense work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and unconditional love for his family and later in life, his passion for the Kingston Creek. Despite struggling with a rare autoimmune illness throughout retirement, Mel was still able to live life to the fullest. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road (849-2119) with visiting on Thursday, July 20 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral Service will be held at Kennebecasis United Baptist Church on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 1 PM. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.
