Obituary of Benjamin Nobel Raynes

It is with great sadness that the family of Benjamin Raynes, husband of the late Crissie (Bull) Raynes, announces his passing which occurred on December 15, 2017 at Kingsway Care Centre. Benjamin was born on February 5, 1921, in Saint John, NB and was the son of the late Arthur and Janet (Clark) Raynes. Ben was a World War II Veteran. He served in England where he met and married Crissie who was also a Veteran of World War II and became a war bride. Ben worked many jobs before working as an engineer on the Millidgeville Ferry then the Romeo and Juliet Ferry for 21 years, retiring in 1986. Benjamin is survived by his children; Joan Sweet (John), Kathleen Rolfe (Jim), Marjorie Murray (Douglas), Flo Ellis (Ron), Benjamin Raynes, John Raynes (Barb), Margaret Anne Scott (Michael) Donald Raynes (Holly), Dennis Raynes (Sherry), Ronald Raynes and Sabrina Ebbett, 27 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, brother kenneth Raynes and sister Mable Lawless. Benjamin was predeceased by his sisters; Mae Moore, Muriel (Alexander) Bishop, Helen Speight, Rena McKnight, Evelyn Raynes, Barbara Raynes, brothers; Everett Raynes and Ralph Raynes. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM with a Legion Service beginning at 1:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be held from Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home Chapel, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) following the visitation at 2:00 PM. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
