Obituary of Hazel Advilla Johnston

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Hazel Johnston (nee Matchett) of Quispamsis, wife of the late Emerson Johnston, announces her death which occurred peacefully on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at the Kings Way Care Centre. Born in Miramichi on January 4, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Bella Harris. Hazel devoted her life to caring for her family. She treasured the times spent with those she loved and especially adored the times she spent with her precious grandchildren. Hazel was a faithful member of Kings Way Assembly and truly loved her church family. She was an avid gardener. Hazel will be sadly missed by all who knew her and will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Hazel is survived by her children, Donald Johnston of Miramichi, Edith Johnston and Alice McLeod (Norman) both of Quispamsis and Leon Johnston (Grace) of Saint John; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces. She was predeceased by two brothers. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, (506) 849-2119, with visitation on Friday, December 21, 2012 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. A funeral service will be held from the chapel of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 1:00 PM and will be immediately followed by a reception. Interment will take place in Miramichi at a later date. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB or to the Salvation Army.
